Tough Interview Questions?

I am looking for some guidance on how to answer a few interview questions.

One, why should we hire you over other candidates? I always feel like no matter what I say it's lame and I'm sure they are interviewing someone else with the same skill. I tend to say either I'm organized, I'm great at multitasking, or I'm a fast learner.

Second.. I left my job in March to take another job.. well that one turned out HORRIBLE with a psycho boss who wouldn't even let me use the restroom, so I ended up quitting without a backup job in May. I'm not including this position on my resume, because I don't want to have to explain why I left after only 5 weeks & I'm sure the supervisor would give me a horrible reference. Therefore, I'm listing the job before that one, the one I left in March- So I've been telling companies that I left because I ran out of responsibilities in my position, which is true. The office was a satellite office that just opened when I came on-board, so there was a lot of work in the beginning but at the end I was doing NOTHING for 7 hours a day, which I couldn't stand! Also, the company put a freeze on salary and started closing some offices. So I figured it was a good time to part ways to pursue other opportunities. But here it is October & I'm still unemployed, so I don't want companies to think I'm undesirable, I just haven't found or been offered a position that is a good fit yet. So at my last few interviews I've been saying that I left to help with a family medical situation, and now it's taken care of so I am ready to get back into the work force. Which explanation do you think sounds better? I just don't want this to deter a company from hiring me, so I'm not sure what would be a better response.

Thanks!
