So i don't really know what to get. if anyone can help me, i'd definitely appreciate it.

what i'd like...

- Good phone phone
- Simple OS
- Good texting phone
- email (yahoo) as simple as texting (i.e. simple OS)
- i'd like the calendar to sync with yahoo calendar, but i don't think any do that yet...and it doesn't seem like pda calendars are much better than simple phone calendars. (unless someone knows better than me, which i'd like to hear)

basically, i thought i wanted a smartphone, but i'm worried that the slow, complicated OS would be annoying and overkill for me...and that emailing would be tedious on the tiny keyboard. i'd love to have email everywhere, so i'm wondering if emailing paragraph long messages gets any easier. (it seems like blackberry people only email sentence long messages now that they have blackberries, in which case, it makes better sense for me to just stick to texting right?)

i like the verizon samsung u740, but i'm only considering sprint (or possibly at&t).

so can anyone advise me of a good phone for texting...or convince me i should go with a smartphone because i will use the email and not get all fed up after writing two lines. thanks!

What carrier? You should always pick the carrier first. Look at where you will use the device - where you live, work, travel, play etc. Check the coverage maps, but don't believe them. Talk to friends, family, co-workers, etc,. and see what they use and how they like it. Sprint is CDMA and ATT is GSM. Different technologies. You need to pick one.

Since you didn't say where you lived, it is tough for anyone to make a suggestion.

Once you pick the best carrier, then pick the best phone for your situation.

I live in the hills in Los Angeles. Sprint has a little tower up here, so they are my first choice. Verizon has gotten worse. AT&T seems to be getting better. So I'm looking primarily at Sprint now, and considering AT&T if Sprint doesn't turn out to have better coverage.
