Toshiba Satellite won't charge- flashing power/charge lights?

Had a similar problem about a month back where the LEDs were flashing pink. Sent it back to Toshiba who claimed it was a fault caused by me but they replaced the hard-drive and God knows what else. The other day, my charger broke because I pulled out the wire by accident and I bought a new one and it was working fine until yesterday when the lights started flashing pink. Now its stuck on 3% battery and keeps telling me that a cord is plugged in but it isn't charging. Yet somehow it is sustaining this 3% "/
I am completely confused, the warranty has expired so I don't want to contact Toshiba if I can help it. I just don't even know what the fault is, any help pleaseeee?
 
Sounds like it could be a fault in the EEPROM inside the Battery. The easiest way to fix this is to replace the battery.

Was the cord you bought a replacement adapter for Toshiba or was it a universal deal...if it was a universal adapter it could be the source of your troubles.
