Toshiba Satellite Illumination LED issue?

A few months ago my laptop suddenly stopped working and I couldn't do anything (not even shut it down), it was not responding. I have the media buttons above the keyboard and the light would always be lit up. All of the LED buttons were working, except for the first one which is for switching them all on/off. When I touched it, it turned on, but then the other buttons turned off. Now none of them works. As my laptop still wasn't responding, I left it like that for a few hours. What happens: I come back to see if anything has changed, I see laptop reboots itself and works fine (it turned out there was an updating in progress), but the LED buttons don't work.

I opened TOSHIBA HWSetup, where the Illumination tab says ''This tab lets you set conditions for Illumination LED (Front Edge Logo LED/ Touch Pad Illumination LED/ Function Button Backlight LED). When it is set to ON, the Front Edge Logo LED and Touch Pad Illumination LED work, but the Function Button Backlight LED doesn't work. Actually, none of the buttons work (Illumination ON/OFF button, the button that opens the windows media player, and buttons play/pause, stop, backward and forward).
