Top Shop New Style Bags

right on, I am still not sure what I am going to do....this fender cover is looking pretty good, but i really want an actual metal replacement fender. I realize he is putting foam to protect the original, but over time with movement even that will screw paint up pretty good. If you have ever had a bra on a car, you will know what I mean. I don't like the turn signals looking like they are "buried" in the fender either. What can I say, I am picky.....

Brett, I've only seen a couple of metal replacement fenders. Tooling up for that is expensive, and beating them out by hand is even more expensive. If you're concerned about your fender, consider buying another to use the cover on. You could probably pick one up cheap if you found someone doing a trike conversion. Then you can hang yours on the wall in the off chance you ever decide to put it back stock. I don't think there's many other options out there right now........

Brett,

I have been silent because I didn't want to misspeak. But I have now talked to Arlen Ness and know what I am talking about. They make a fender and a cover. I have found the fender for $700 shipped to my door. If you aren't in Texas you can get it cheaper (sales tax in Texas only). I was going to go with Bad Dad's I saw a lot of them this weekend and they look great, but like you I want an actual fender.

I haven't seen an Arlen Ness replacement fender?? Is it a blank or something that you have to fab? Or is it extended and wide with the look of a cover? It could be an RWD fender.

EDIT (just saw picture): That's not a replacement fender, its just a cover. And $700 high especially considering their quality. Hell their bags are like $1200 and they can't hold a candle to TopShops bags. I'm not just saying that because I've got Topshop bags either. I've seen the Arlen Ness bags in person before and after paint.

Better yet, find a rashed one real cheap (it'll be covered).

Brett
I really think your options are limited with a steel replacement. You might even consider talking to a local body shop or two (try finding one that employs bikers so they'll get your drift a little more) and talk with them about what you want and you could truly have a one-off fender. If you have the time, and you go that route, you could even get some poster board and cut out your own mock up, then let them cut it, weld it and fill it in off your own design.

Trust me, I know how hard it is to make a decision on which "cookie cutter" design to decide on, especially when you're trying to be different but still be uniquely yours. Talk to a shop and get some quotes so you know if its even a plausible route to take, but that's the best way to get the look you want out of a steel fender. That's what I was gonna do until my budget cut me short. Hell, I'd still go to marraige prison if my wife found out what I've spent so far.
