I would still like to see a fender that replaces the factory piece, not covers it and accepts the factory tail light, turn signals, and licence plate holder
 
Okay here we go.....
This is the fender that we have mocked up so far for the on up to 08. As you can see the fender will accomidate all of your original hardware and be smoothed out in the back(for now, we are not sure if we still want to put the tri-light in). It is meant to slide under the the u-bar in the back and is rolled to cover the sides of the fender . As you can also see it will cover the bolts on the side as well. But all in all it matches up with the bags and covers a great majority of everything that you would see in a rear shot of your bike. Above the yellow tape is where the 3" bags would be and the exhaust holes line up very, very good.

The more I look at the pic above with the mocked up cover, the more I think if you had that set up with no exhaust cut outs it would look like a big frikkin box in the rear. The dual exhaust and cut outs for them add a certain dynamic to what would otherwise be a big straight line at the bottom and wouldn't have any character. I like my Big Radius exhaust too much to switch back to duals just for a " body kit"
Plus, until someone offers an actual fender that meets the criteria I posted above, I'll probably just stick to my factory tins and bags.....

What is the factory rear fender made out of?
