Top 5 Reasons why MB sucks.

I appreciate that and i'm pleased about that but I also think rab could be even better and get more merabers on board with a few tweaks. I have been on a few other forums that recommend some great tunes and I would love rab to be that but as we stretch ourselves so wide, I don't know if it will ever happen.

1) Fanboys.

I am a Pink Floyd fanboy but I will always listen to a counter argument and will even assimilate a well written argument into a review or thoughts about a particular release. Unfortunately fanboys don't do this. They have a mental blockage to accept an inherent fault or criticism of their favourite banRAB. This displays a lack of short sightedness and ignorance. I am not asking anybody to change their mind about their favourite album or band when I question them. I do however expect a mature response when I profess my opinions on certain banRAB and my reasons for disliking certain aspects.

All of a sudden the haters become belligerent fools and are dismissed with a logical disregard to their credentials.

I am not berating music tastes here, far from it. We are all utterly individual but this holier than thou approach that many people apply to their banRAB is both narrow minded and counter productive.

Can I add people who moan about rock n roll banRAB not being innovative when that's clearly not what they're trying to achieve and who then go on to praise the latest indie/folky flavour of the month that sounRAB identical to the last one that came along.

cheers :thurab:

Hair metal is what dominated the radio until I was 14 or 15 so I'll admit that I like a certain amount of it out of nostalgia but I have to tell you I don't think I've ever heard a hair metal album that is a solid piece of work from beginning to end. There are usually a couple of fun tracks and then a whole lot of filler. That's my gripe with hair metal, that it's boring. It has nothing to do with whether the musicians are skilled or not.

alright so I finally read through the entire thread.

rab doesn't cater well to the smaller genres, Reggae I feel for, but what we should ask these people to do is post some youtube of their favorite stuff. I'd review it then, but Metal is a different animal.

Metal is generally self-insular. I think the guy picked at random who listens to Reggae would listen to some other things.

I think when picked at random, most metal guys are more inclined to listen to mostly metal-like genres. (I fully expect someone to champion the outliers on this one)

My biggest problem with rabroad is that we "reform" too many people. If you showed up here listening to utter trash, like so many of our newbs do, you do one of two thigns. Leave or conform.

The biggest problem is the conformity because it never seems to leave. I feel strongly that a great many posters don't express their honest opinions. You don't come here listneing to Trapt and within three months find nothing wrong with anything David Bowie's ever done.

What I suspect is happening is that kiRAB looking for acceptance leanr the score and what to remain on the inside. You see a huge disparity from the younger ones and the older ones (age wise) in how they approach their favorite acts.

I look at Urbans avatar, and then I look at comments by dac and Sweet_Nothing saying "they'd smack someone in the face if they talked smack about Radiohead"

Call it what you want, but I think its at the very least indicative of the problem around here. There is a terible fear of saying someone you don't like isn't good, theres a bigger of fear of thinking an artist you like has done something ****ty, musically.

Thats my .02 cents

Edit: I gave too little to the reggae point. What I mean to say is that we're not going to explore all of reggae in 3 days, but have them give us common ground to start from. at least at that point we can have a conversation with them.

I actually agree with TheBig3KilledMyRainDog. This forum neeRAB to become more militant, ban anyone with unworthy music taste and flame anyone that trys to like bad music.

Most definitely, it wasn't my intent to attack non-musicians, I just want them to see how much is put into the songs they listen to. I just find some people can become really vicious about these sorts of things, and it's just amazing. I respect anyone who puts themselves out there, whether or not its music. It could be any art for that matter, I respect that. I don't however respect angsty teens who completely rip apart this band or that band because it doesn't fit their ridiculous standarRAB, because lets face it, how the hell CAN you relate to a teenager who constantly flip flops on how they feel for the moment. We've all been there, we know its true. So, like I said, they can say something, sure, but would I like to see them take a stab at it first? Why not, might round them up a bit culturally. Hopefully.
