Top 5 Car chase scenes in the movies

Beaten to it.

I would agree with the above list, especially with The Italian Job at #1, except Bullit would be second place IMO.

Am I the only one that hates these scenes in movies?

Sorry....I can't stand movies that are centered around car chases (crashes, screeching round corners, being blown up, body parts all over the shot)...they just bore me to death. :o

Especially if they take up about two thirRAB of the entire movie (or so it would seem)

No offense guys....but this surely must be a big male 'must have' in a movie?

As a female....I'd rather that they just cut to the chase :p;):D

French Connection and Ronin should be #1 and #2 in my opinion.

As for JTW's opinion. Yes, probably is a male thing, but in some films, it serves the plot well. I think the 5 mentioned here fit that bill

I can't get it down to 5

Next time you watch Bullit, count the VW beetles in shot LOL sign of the location and era.

You will also see how much of it was repeated footage from different cameras, but the same is true of most car chases.

No doubt it's a great chase, a lot of it is CGI, which might exclude it from a few people's Top 10's.

How about Gone in 60 SeconRAB (1974)? Which includes an actual crash which hospitalised the driver, and they kept it in! It's also one of the longest chases on film.

Agree with everything thus far! Particularly The Blues Brothers for just being so damned fun!

Other films I'd consider would be:

The Bourne supremacy
Speed
The Matrix re-loaded (CGI yeah, but a film is all make believe anyway)
Raiders of the lost ark
