Top 10 Films Of The Year In The UK.

I thought Superman Returns was brilliant. It did ok, not as well as was expected, but it was my favourite film of the year.

POTC 2 at number 1 was predictable but it was terrible.

I have to agree. I can count on one hand the amount of times I've been to the cinema this year. It's strange for me because I normally go quite a lot.

This year has been huge for movie going for me. 50 times at least, and I loved Superman. Of course my absolute favs aren't Top 10 material.

I've seen everything in that list apart from Ice Age 2 (didn't like the first so didn't bother) and The Da Vinci Code. All on the cinema except for MI:3 which I caught on DVD.

Looking at that list, 2006 has been really poor. POTC2 was dire, likewise Da Vince Code. Superman was a bad let down, so it's one in the eye for Singer that XMen 3 was the more enjoyable superhero flick and did better business.

Borat and Casino Royale were deserved successes, but easily the best film this year was United 93. Tough viewing, but essential.

Just hoping 2007 offers a better crop than this year's sorry lot, but will be real depressed if POTC3 or Shrek 3 clean up. YUK!

Hehe, you know they will...Shrek 2 and Pirates 2 have done rediculously well, some might even say too good for what they were, maybe it'll lose steam by the third act but that's so rarely the case.

I was going to post a thread on this topic; almost missed this one! :)

But, rather than start a new thread, I'll pose my question here:

What would you rate as your personal best five films of 2006?

I think it has been quite a good year for movies, you just need to search them out:

Some of my favs:

Children of Men
Babel
The Prestigue
The Departed
Casino Royale
Brick
Borat
Severance
Little Miss Sunshine

My favourite movie of 2006 that has mainly British cast is Severence.

Have to agree with, well, most of you. A bad year for film.

Loved:
The Prestigue (Magic! Pun intended)

Liked:
Superman Returns (Lucious Louis!)
X-Men 3 (Great popcorn movie)
Little Miss Sunshine (Darkly funny expose of families and children's beauty pagents)
Devil Wears Prada (Funnier that I expected)

Hated:
Borat (Cohen is a shit who proved nothing more than Americans are the politest people on Earth. I'd have hit him)
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest (Oh Lawdy!)
The Producers (How could Nathen Lane and Mathew Broderick take such a fantastic show and make such a sucky movie?)
Snakes on a Plane (Such a disappointment!)

i watch practically every film that comes out...it was a decent year of films, it was just a poor bunch of summer blockbuster films, they bored me.

10. The Devil Wears Prada (
