Toonzone's Top 50 Animated Show Countdown!

Actually it would be a good idea to post both, because if 2 is Batman, we know 1 is Simpsons, and vice versa. :)

Whatever you want, though.

Yep, I'll be posting both tonight. So right now, I'm going to say something about both.

Batman: The Animated Series - I'm glad that this series is getting so much recognition. DCAU has had a lot of excellent series and this one is by far the best. I particularly like the villain designs and the storylines. I have to say, I'm shocked that it managed to beat South Park and Family Guy, and it fully deserves it.

The Simpsons - I admit that I haven't watched a ton of The Simpsons, but I did watch one of the earlier "Treehouse of Horror" special with my friend a long time ago and I loved it. I have no idea why I didn't start watching it after that, maybe my parents were paranoid about me watching it at that time. Anyway, a show that has lasted since 1989 and is still running strong is a major influence in animation.

Tune in tonight as I will announce the winner!

Before I announce the winner, I would like to give honorable mentions to the shows that received enough points to qualify, but didn't get ranked in the Top 50.

Congrats to both finalists and all other shows in the countdown. It's been really fun hosting. Look out for rabroad's Top 50 Animated Movies, coming soon to a forum near you!

Hey, I was more genuinely moved by this then Avatar as a whole. The good news is that the voice actors of Zuko and Katara played the main leads; making it a very underrated gem with an engaging love story and edging on material not suitable for our youngsters on the Disney Channel. :p

Seriously, the only relationship that moved me were Zuko and Iroh. I teared up. Dante Basco can deliver when he gets into it, as well as Mae Whitman. So Zuko and Katara's more interesting counterparts really did end up together.

And people, check out this show. The character's actually breathe and laugh.

My Top Ten:

10. Rugrats
9. Scooby-Doo
8. Hey Arnold!
7. Futurama
6. Death Note
5. Simpsons
4. Full Metal Alchemist
3. Avatar: The Last Airbender
2. Batman: The Animated Series
1. The Spectacular Spider-Man

Though I can't stop feeling I forgot something....

So the Powerpuffs didn't make the top ten after all... Oh well, here is to Ren and Stimpy or Beavis and Butthead making the list (although i suspect there is actually very little hope for the latter...).

The 90's might have had plenty of real animated stinkers on the air (like some action cartoons that apparently wasn't effected by the inluence of B:TAS, but were instead written in such a way that they might as well have been made in the 80's) but i consider the better creator driven cartoons of the decade (the three series i just mentioned being prime examples) to be among the greatest cartoons ever made in any era for any medium.
