Toon Zone's Best of 07 Nominees: Voting Phase

Canik

New member
Haven't been given a final OK, but I thought it would be alright if I went through with it anyway. I'll set up the guidelines throughout, but I'm mostly keeping up with the ones set up by the 2006 list the site did, with some new nominees and rules. Anyway, you can send your choices here and/or via PM, if you want to keep them private. Reasons for why you choose something isn't necessary, but always welcome. Three choice maximum. I'll tally them up myself, although help is welcome.

Best TV Series: Comedy
To make the voting process easier and more balanced, I splited up the main two catagories of entertainment in the animation world.

Best TV Series: Action - Adventure
Read above.

Best Theatrical Film
Although we all know what'll win, anyway

Best Foreign Series
This is where people vote for anime. And some French stuff. But mostly anime. Oh, if you want to vote for a DVD-only series, more power to you.

Best DTV/ Made for TV Movie
Of the few that are good, anyway

Best Voice Actor on a Movie/TV Series
Decided not to spilit them up, as the best for animated movie awards elsewhere are typically just wheels for popular actors, but I can't ignore the few particuarly talented one's roles, so I just merged them together. Be sure to list which character/s the actor you're nominating provided, as well.

Best Voice Actress on a Movie/TV Series

Thank you for voting. I just want to remind you that I forgot to add the best animation for a TV series and best storyboarding for a movie nominations, so I'd advise if you want to vote for either, that you'd go back and vote for them. I also want to remind that you're not limited to only 1 choce for nomination; you can choose up to three. Anyhow, here are my choices.

Best TV Series: Comedy
Ed, Edd, n' Eddy- Please don't end this yet, CN; it's still the best on the air.

King of the Hill- Went from show I used to love that was going downhill but was willing to give it another chance to liking it again to loving it again to totally obssessing over it in the matter of a year.

Drawn Together- I'd of probably given this to Chowder, and responded with a "keep up the good work, CN" response, but I just want this show to have it's one last shot like I do EEnE. This half of the season was way better than the last's, mostly due to the crew giving the rest of the cast get some time in the light, but not totally ignoring Captain Hero.

Best TV Series: Action - Adventure
American Dragon: Jake Long- Still amazing me even at seeming death.

Danny Phantom- Not the best the show has to offer, but enough ghood episodes warrant a nominaton from me.

Avatar: The Last Airbender- If you know me, you know I don't normally enjoy the show, but I did like "The Baech" and "Day of Black Sun", and there really wasn't much more worthy this year.

Best Theatrical Film
Hmm, not too big on what I saw, sorry. I'm seeing Persepolis this weekend, though; maybe I'll like it enough to nominate it.

Best Foreign Series
Death Note- The first anime I got into in a good while. Great, pulse-pounding stuff.

Best DTV/ Made for TV Movie
Billy & Mandy's Big Boogie Adventure- Perfection, honestly is. Watching it should turn even the biggest Grim loather into a believer.

Best Voice Actor on a Movie/TV Series
Dante Basco- Jake Long(American Dragon: Jake Long)- Normally a sub-par VA, he totally deserves it for "Homecoming".

Keith Ferguson- Bloo(Foster's Home For Imagianry Friends)- Only Bloo's irresistibly high-pitched voice could make even the corniest lines as hystrical as Keith can.

Billy West- Zoidberg(Futurama: Bender's Big Score)- I was this close to giving it to John DiMaggio's Bender, or even his Drakken or Fu Dog, but I thought, you can't top Zoidberg. Hurray! :zoidberg:

Best Voice Actress on a Movie/TV Series
Grey DeLisle- Mandy(The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy)- Excluding her work as Lor on The Weekenders, Mandy's my favorite voice of Grey's, and she shined, or dawned, throughout as always.

Juile Kavner- Marge Simpson(The Simpsons Movie)- Gotta agree; when Marge poured her heart out to Homer in the video, I could finally feel what the show has been missing for so long now; heart.

Mae Whitman- Rose(Americvan Dragon: Jake Long)- In the few episodes she was in, Mae put some of her finest work into nearly every single line Rose had, with suome of the most realistic uses of emotion I've seen a VA handle in recent memory.

Best Director on a TV Series
Danny Antonucci (Ed, Edd, n' Eddy)- Still got it.

Steve Loter (American Dragon: Jake Long)- The one tihng I'll miss about the show when it's renewed is Steve's great action and emotional scenes since he recently left the channel.

Craig McCracken (Foster's Home For Imagianry Friends)- Even though the show's not what it used to be, Craig's still solid.

Best Director on a Movie
N/A

Best Storyboards for a TV Series
Chowder

Ed, Edd, n' Eddy

El Tigre: The Legend of Manny Rivera

Best Storyboards for a Movie
Ratatouille- Didn't like it much, but might as well.

Best Animation for a TV Series
Avatar: The Last Airbender- Gotta give credit where credit is due.

Ed, Edd, n' Eddy- Whoever says otherwise is a hypocrite.

El Tigre: The Legend of Manny Rivera- If all flash shows were as beautiful as this and Foster's, another tough contender, I wouldn't mind the demise of hand-drawn animation.

Best Animation for a Movie
Ratatouille- See for previous movie-based nomination.

Best Writing for a TV Series
American Dad!- The finer of the two MacFarlene series IMO.

The Boondocks- Now that it's back, I'm glad to see the show's sense of humor return, even if the commentary's dropped a bit.

Ed, Edd, n' Eddy- Witty as always.

Best Writing for a Movie
N/A

Best Character Design for a TV Series
Chowder- Some well-rounded and imagintive material abound.

Class of 3000- Fluid, soild, unique, etc.

Foster's Home For Imaginary Friends- Still pretty.

Best Cartoon DVD Release
Animaniacs Volume 3- Business as usual, in a good way.

Futurama: Bender's Big Score- As disappointing as the movie was, the features more than justify the purchase. If the show's regular sets are anywhere as good as this, I need to get on them fast.

The Powerpuff Girls Season 1- Modern classic getting the respect it deserves in box-set form.

Episode of the Year
"Death Picks Cotton" (King of the Hill)- Even at it's peak, The Simpsons would of never dared to of gone here. Glad to see the King back.

"Homecoming" (American Dragon: Jake Long)- Words cannot beign to describe how amazing this to us fans, and in general. I dare yuo to watch this episode and not cry near the ending.

"Stinkmeaner Strikes Back" (The Boondocks)- In theory, this shouldn't of worked: Bring back a seemingly one-time-only gag character from the pits of hell, have him possess an innocent, and turn him into an ass-kicking monster. But, somehow, it did work, and this is one of the funniest episodes to date.

Episode of the Year
"Blue Harvest" - Family Guy

Yeah, kind of redundant choices.

Just need some clarity on the foreign series category - can we vote for stuff that hasn't been released in America yet?
And for those of us who don't live in the USA, can we vote for cartoons from our own country? (I think we should be able to)
And can we vote for American cartoons? (I don't think we should be able to, since it'd kind of miss the point of the category)

Thank you for voting, Dudley, but I'm a little bit skeptical on having El Tigre and Kim Possible, two typically comedy-based series, nominated for best action series. I'm going to have to ponder on this one.

To clarify on each:
Yes, Yes, and if you mean American cartoons as foerign series, than I'm gonna have to say No.

You know, I might just consider having KP eligible for Best Action-Adventure series. We have far fewer action series than comedy, and it's flexible enough to fit for either.

Don't know about El Tigre, though. Besides, you exceeded the limit for nominations for that catagory, anyway.

Episode of the Year
New catagory. Thought I'd ask you out of all the episodes of all the 'toons that you've seen, which remains the most signicant to you.

Let the voting commence!

God Wilt Hunting does not count, since that's a 2006 movie. But, I guess it depends on where you live. I guess it showed up this year for you.

Submitted. Thank you.

While I'm at it, from what position do you nominate Dan Castellaneta's Homer from; the show or the movie? Right now I've just counted for ballet for the movie, if that's OK.

And Lavenderpaw, for which role of Mae Whitman's are you voting for; Rose or Katara? Right now I just counted it up for Rose since that's been submitted beforehand, but if you mean her role as Katara, I could fix that.

What limitations? By the way I think El Tigre should be placed in action adventure category. Because even though it's mostly relies on humor, the action in the show is well done.

By "limitations", I meant that there's a 3 choice maximum per catagory, which you exceeded in that specific catagory.

Like I said, I may consider it.
