This is the talkback thread for "The Simpsons" vs. Fox News "Feud" Explained.

On the one hand, Jean's comments make perfect sense and are certainly in-line with the Simpsons' behavior in the past.

On the other hand, those prone to believing that there is anything deeper to the Simpsons' swipes at Fox News will likely view this news as more evidence of how deep the liberal conspiracy goes since it's coming from that bastion of liberal liberalitological liberalism The New York Times.

Heh, when I saw the first joke, I was wondering if O'Reilly would cover it. And sure enough, he did. I'm still hoping he'll say something about the new joke, but I take this as a friendly jab from The Simpsons writing staff.

?Take that Fox!?
?Zing!?
?Can?t wait to see how O?Reilly is going to counter this latest jab.?

None of those things occurred to me when I saw this weeks opening.

So, basically they replaced a good gag for a rehash of last weeks joke.

I don?t mind scathing remarks pointed at the corporate overlords, but this one wasn?t so hot.
I?d rather have something zany, like have the Fox copter go by, followed by a bunch of other copters filled with dogs and men in red fox hunting jackets.

If you?re doing a joke about the age of an audience, 60 Minutes is a more deserving target. Talk about old, it?s been around forever, and heck, it?s on CBS. Plus it?s a competitor for Simpsons reruns.

The bit they used on Hulu, Homer as King Kong, was fun though.
Too bad it wasn't kept in.
Or they should have come up with a harder hitting Fox joke.

Awwww.....Homer as King Kong on the hulu version?!?!?!? I can't watch hulu as I'm not on USA, and I'm stuck with the dumb Fox News jab they kept in. Hopefully they'll use the Homer-Kong in a following episode.

According to The Wrap, Al Jean says they are laying off of Fox News now because someone at Fox News said they thought the jokes were funny and that The Simpsons is funny "unlike Family Guy." Al Jean says that since they like the show they are laying off them for now.

I'll give it to Simpsons though, this has given them more publicity in recent memory since when the movie came out.
