I think FUNi bought this because it was some sort of deal for them. Like, why would they buy Dragonaut when it's so obviously crud.

Or they wanted to cash in on the profits and not let it become completely for waste. I mean, at least one person is going to buy this at some point.

...I liked Mokun, myself. He was an adorable little cat-rabbit-demon thing. That he's the only thing I remeraber from the series probably says a lot.
