They should have him move to Cleaveland :p he'll be Cleaveland of Cleaveland.

I agree that because Cleaveland is a blank they can pretty much do whatever they want. I can imagine him with a wacky neigbhor to bounce off of.

actually, i would absolutely love to have a spin-off or at least have a few episodes dedicated towards the mishaps of the springfield police department: "bad cops" (kinda like an animated version of reno 9-1-1).

and wasn't it mike judge the one who was given an offer to create a new primetime animated sitcom for abc?

edit: as for cleveland, i would think that this show would either be ultra fail, or could actually become something that will be considered a 'classic'. cleveland is an awkward enough of a character to bring in some sort of oddball comedy that macfarlane likes to produce. plus, this would be a golden opportunity for him to do more spoofs on retro black american culture, which also seems like another thing he likes to produce. and seeing how macfarlane is an avid fan of 'all in the family', the cleveland show may be his version of the 'jeffersons'. now, i know that seth macfarlane can come up with a better idea, and that a show revolving around a character who isn't as fleshed out isn't a good choice, but knowing how his mind works, this is probably the reason why he's considering this show.

this show would definitely succeed if quagmire plays a major role in this new series. perhaps cleveland and quagmire become roommates and quagmire accidentally ends up sleeping with every woman he tries to hook cleveland up with.

Whoa, this caught me completely off-guard. I never expected this; I thought Fox considered American Dad their Family Guy spinoff (even though it obviously isn't, they treat it as such).

.....wait, what's he going to do? Cleveland is the blandest character on the show (though Bruce might be worse). It's part of his character to be bland, actually--it's often played for humor. But an entire show? Stewie could carry his own show easily. So could Brian, or Joe or Quagmire....but Cleveland?

Did Fox think about this or did they just see a Family Guy character and hit the stamp of approval?

This is weirding me out. I guess I'll have to wait and see what they have in mind.

Why didn't Hubert get a Family Guy spin-off series? And American Dad is not a Family Guy spin-off!

If Cleveland leaves Family Guy, it will be Quagmire, wheelchair Joe, and maybe old geezer Hubert as Peter's DRUNKEN CLAM hang out friends.

Actually, a couple things.

Stewie was at one point to have a spinoff show, but it was basically just an internet thing. I forgot what it was, but I think it was something about celebrity interviews or something. Something like Space Ghost. But it never happened. There also was an idea floating around one of the writers wanted to pitch, about Homer's teen life. But nothing came out of it.

I would actually prefer a Herbert spinoff. That said, I think Cleveland should move into an apartment with the greased-up deaf guy and have it be an odd-couple sort of thing.

Seriously though, I wouldn't be surprised if they put Cleveland into the most absurd premise imaginable, and have most of the jokes be based around a parody of classic spinoffs.

It's Herbert, and no, just no. I don't have high expectations for this Cleveland show either, but as a character, Cleve is at least a blank slate which could be potentially layered upon and fleshed out for a spotlight in a series. Herbert, on the other hand, is a one-trick pony if I ever saw one. Besides that, do you really think a major broadcast network would actually build an entire series around a homosexual pedophile?

Who said it was?

Those guys never hung out with Herbert before, so why would they start now? Herbert's a smidge out of their age group, don't you think? If anything, Mort Goldman would seem a more likely contender, as he's been shown hanging out with Peter and the guys in a couple of episodes. Just a guess, though. They could just as easily replace Cleveland with an entirely new character.

I doubt they'll make it a clone of Family Guy. That's what everyone thought we were getting with American Dad and we were pleasantly surprised.

Not that I'm a fan or anything, but would this make the first traditionally-animated (vs. "The PJs" being stop-motion animated) primetime series starring someone who's Black?

-B.

^Undoubtedly the show will be framed within the nuclear family structure, since FOX doesn't do any animated shows that aren't about families. (The one non-domestic sitcom they did air, Futurama, was treated like a red-headed stepchild by the network.) Which begs the question: just how many domestic comedies does Seth MacFarlane (and FOX) need?

QFT.

Why Cleveland? Is he even that popular? I'd understand a Stewie or Quagmire(but that'd get old real fast), but I can't see 22 mniutes of "hey, everybody!" and him falling out of bathtubs.

But really, if any FOX Primetime characters need their own show, give one to Steve and Roger.
