This is the talkback thread for Comic Actor and Toon Voice Kenneth Mars Dies.

So sad. My dad has played two roles on Broadway created by Kenneth Mars on film -- Franz Liebkind from "The Producers" and Inspector Kemp of "Young Frankenstein." He was talking to Mel Brooks once about him and Mel said he arrived to do a screen test or an audition or something for Young Frankenstein with his arm stiff, and Mel asked him, "Ken, what's wrong with your arm?" And he said in that incredible buffoonish German accent, "Eeets wuuden." "What?" "Eets wuuden!" So that part was all him.

America has lost a wonderful, eccentric, talented man. Thanks for all the smiles.

Good roles in Young Frankenstein, The Producers and Malcolm In The Middle.. Some of my all time favorite movies and tv show. Doubly so for Young Frankenstein.

Anyone who can hang with Mel Brooks has got to be awesome.

Once you know him you?ll be surprised to find he?s in just about everything. Always enjoyable.
Here?s to a long and storied career.

So your father was Brad Oscar then? If that's the case, then that's a good thing.

But the death of Mr. Mars isn't, so yeah. I guess it evens itself out.

I definitely knew him as Grandpa Longneck and King Triton, plus Otto the German cowboy from Malcolm in the Middle. I had know idea until those roles were mentioned...

Well, I suppose if Disney were to dub any further games in the Kingdom Hearts video game series, they'd land the role of King Triton to Jim Cummings (he played Triton in The Little Mermaid: Ariel's Beginning).

Still, 'tis sad to learn about Kenneth Mars' passing.
