This is the talkback thread for Bandai Entertainment Licenses "Lucky Star" OAV.

Well, this was surprising, considering Lucky Star vol. 6 LE got cancelled.

(There, I got it right this time. )

Nice one. I'm guessing this will get its own release, but unlike the Final Plus release for Gundam Seed Destiny there's actually a reason to buy this since it basically has two episodes worth of completely new content.

There's apparently a ridiculous nuraber of references on top of the typical Lucky Star comedy. Heh.

Basically a super long episode divided into several parts. One has the girls playing the fake MMO that we see Konata doing from time to time, another focuses on a volleyball match, you get the idea. The anime about nothing continues on. The whole thing apparently enRAB with a live action version of Lucky Channel.

Yeah. It has Hiromi Konno (Akira's VA) and Minoru Shiraishi (as himself).

Could be, though I wouldn't expect it. HD is still really uncommon for anime.

I know, I wasn't expecting it, I was one step away from importing the Japanese DVD, but thankfully Kadokawa and Bandai came and saved the day, so I can get it at a cheaper price.

I enjoyed the OVA too, and surprisingly my wide knowledge of anime came into play, during a certain scene in the OVA, but I liked and enjoyed it with a cheesy grin on my face. (you'd be surprised, at how many anime I know about, and how much I know about anime, and anything related to it)

I hope so too, but sadly HD is still an unknown territory to anime

That's not even close to the majority, and Tsubasa and 00 don't have Blu-Ray confirmed for the U.S. yet (nor does DBZ, but that's inevitable). We have a ways to go. It wasn't very long ago when just about nothing was on Blu-Ray outside of Bandai Visual USA's terrible "Japanese authentic" releases. Lucky Star is a more niche offering and I can't see BEI doing it sooner rather than later, considering what else they have in the library and the fact that they got burned on the limited edition DVD release.

I believe that most of the movies, along with The History of Trunks and Bardock, the Father of Goku specials, have been released on Blu-Ray.
