This is the talkback thread for "El Cazador de la Bruja" Parts 1 and 2: Girls With Guns, and Tacos.

Taco, taco, tacosu, oishii tacosu--DANGIT!

Hmm, I never got that impression at all. There are certainly humorous lines when appropriate, but the show still takes itself seriously. Who was saying it was a gag dub?

I think there's some miscommunication here. When you say "gag dub", I think of something like Ghost Stories, which is joke-a-line and creates entirely new dialog that turns the show into something it's not. The show may apparently be more comedic than the other two "girls with guns" shows, Noir and Madlax (and again, I haven't yet seen either, so I'll have to take your word for it), but El Cazador's dub is hardly a MST3K affair. I don't think I would've cared for the characters if it had been, to be honest.

Hmm . . .

1. Noir
2. El Cazador
3. Madlax

Noir's the unquestionable champion of them all, it has such an aura of mystery and breathtaking atmosphere, it is mesmerizing and does not let you go. It is leisurely paced like all non-Murder Princess Bee Train anime, but the quality storytelling and superb characterizations suck you in.

El Cazador's fun personality gives it an edge over Madlax, which I found to be too much of a Noir-reprise and took leisurely pacing to an all-new level, Madlax actually put me to sleep more than once. Madlax lacks the atmosphere and suspense of Noir, and eventually frustration sets in because the story takes FOREVER to go anywhere. I finished it but I have never gained the urge to watch it again.

But El Cazador is a worthy show in its own right. It's just fun to watch, and is more exciting than Madlax is too. It's a different beast than Madlax or Noir but that doesn't make it a bad show, just different.

El cazador is a good show I snatced up both parts awhile back, It is indeed rather slow compared to other anime series (but its alot faster then the 1st 52 eps of shippuden lol.!)

Overall its a good series, A great example of a Modern Western, with of course some Drama & supernatural/sci-fi elements thrown in for good measure.

I'd give it a B overall.

This has been a disappointing trilogy IMO. Normally I'm a sucker for girls with guns, but I just couldn't stand Noir ("hot air" is how I would describe this series) and Madlax barely registers above even the most generic girls with guns anime.

It doesn't help that Bee Train can't stage a well choreographed action scene if their lives depended on it.

I'd love to check our El Cazador and hope this show redeems this "trilogy", but the reviews warning people that "the action sucks" scares me off it. What is the point of a girl with a gun anime if you don't care about showing her doing it well?
