Took out old air filter and the new one doesn't look like the old one. Toyota corolla...

...03? I went to the auto parts store and they gave me my engine air filter for a 2003 corolla but when i went to change it it does not look exactly like the old one.

This one has a plastic spine going down the center and the other did not.

It still fit though. Is this wrong or can it be right?
