hey all--new here, so i don't know where to place this (i tried:()
alright basically i'm going CRAZY and i don't know what to do anymore.

ever since i was little, i've had overlarge and strangely shaped tonsils (my doctor recently called them "very interesting looking", hah.) they're always big and red and full of crevices, but my doctor has refused to let me remove them for whatever reason (apparently i'm not suffering enough to qualify, yeah right.)

i've always had tonsil stones (gross) and sore throats. recently, though, it's like i just cannot get rid of the problems. for the past year i've had more issues than i can count: throat always getting sore, swollen, and red. feeling of lumps in my throat that come and go. constant post nasal drip and feeling like there is hair in my throat. it feels like my left tonsil is so large that it's interfering with how i swallow--it feels like i'm trying to swallow a lump and i can hear it sort of "snap" back into place. this has gone on for about six months.

i sometimes feel dizzy, i frequently get headaches, and i also have TMJ which causes my jaw to constantly crack.

today, however, i about had a panic attack. i felt a lump in one of my crevices in my tonsils which i assumed was another tonsil stone but i couldnt get it out. finally i looked in the mirror and saw what appears to be a blood-blister (a blackish/reddish lump) sticking inside my tonsil. at first i thought it might be food, so i foolishly poked at it for a few seconRAB with a Q-tip. it didn't come out, but instead there was blood all over the Q-tip where i poked it. there are also a couple of other small, clear lumps near it.

i called my doctor, but it's too late to go and see her and she's not there tomorrow. she basically said she had no idea and she never heard of it before, and to come in on monday (even though i'm sitting here having heart palpitations.)

anyone have any idea what could cause this?

Is this an ENT you are going to or a GP? I'd go to an ENT and have them out. End of all your problems. Doesn't sound like this is any huge issue...just an infection but they need to come out.

it's a GP, i will definitely try an ENT (never been to one before, ironically) but i know the one that is referred by my doctor has about a month waiting-list for an appointment. i'm just panicked that it is cancer or something (i have extreme health anxiety) and i'm scared to eat, lest it bursts in my mouth or something (or my tonsils simply deteriorate, which they feel like they might do!)

oh yeah i'm 22 years old, btw (if that helps, lol.)

You don't have cancer. Just a doctor who doesn't want to refer you and lose money on it. Surely there is more than one ENT he can send you to...tell him to do the right thing.
