Tonsil Canker Sore + Sharp Ear Pain?

*** This could get long, but please read on and help as much as you can, thanks ***

Alright so I woke up about 3 days ago with a sore throat but only on the right part of my tonsils. Then later that day I found out (by feeling it) that it's a canker sore on my right tonsil, but deep in there (and I've never gotten them there ever before). Still later that day I started getting sharp ear pains whenever I swallow ON TOP of the throat pain. And I know that the throat and ears are very much connected since I can trace the area of pain with my finger on my neck from the canker sore itself all the way to the hole of my ear.

I've read a lot of sites and pretty much all of them suggest to tough it out anywhere from 3 days to a couple weeks and do the best I can to numb the pain and speed the healing process. A couple sites suggested taking ibuprofen, but a couple sites say that ibuprofen was linked to canker sore causes, so now I'm confused. We have aspirin, but I'm a big guy (weight-wise) with somewhat of a high tolerance to drugs, and the aspirins we have are all low dose. ALTHOUGH, before I ever knew that ibuprofen could cause canker sores, I took about 400mg of it and fortunately, the ear pain would "lessen" in about 45 minutes and last about 4-5 hours. But should I continue using ibuprofen despite claims that it causes canker sores?

It really sucks because the pain is keeping me from working out, eating properly, and sleep. When I thought about it, I came up with a ton of reasons as to why it started.

-Stress and fatigue (Insanity workouts while I'm still overweight)

-Ibuprofen (I had been taking ibuprofen almost everyday for the past week and a half)

-Toothpaste (just found out that my toothpaste contained Sodium lauryl sulfate, which also causes cankers)

-Weather (it was really windy that night when my throat started to hurt and my window was slightly opened, I may have caught some bacteria from the wind? Although I've read that tonsil cankers are not viral or bacterial, so not sure)

-Just pure bad luck (maybe my tonsils got messed up from whatever I ate recently, or something whatever happened and caused a rupture, etc.)

I'm continuing to perform home remedies though, in the hopes of speeding up the healing process. Like gargling baking soda or salt with warm water, gargling hydrogen peroxide, and applying baking soda paste (but since it's on my tonsil, it's hard to apply anything because that area is always wet and slippery).

Final Questions:
Which pain medication should I take for best results? Aspirin? Ibuprofen? Anything else?

Any other effective home remedies to sooth it? Keep in mind that my canker sore is deep into my right tonsil so I'm gonna need to reach in there to touch it, etc.

When should I go see a doctor? (Sad to say but no insurance at the moment, so this area could get flaky)

THANK YOU!!
