TomTom GPS for T3 - but which one?

I'm looking to get a GPS unit and, as I already have a T3, an looking towards the TomTom navigator for T3.

Question is, should I get the bluetooth or the wired version? I'd like to use it in the car where it can be easily removed but would also like the ability to use it while walking.

Do both units need an extra holder even when not used in a vehicle? Would you still need power wires to the GPS antenna? Can you buy one then get an extra antennato connect to it afterwards?

Any thoughts?

I recommend the BT one. It's slightly more expensive, but gives you more freedom. The only tiny problem I have with mine is that it's easy to accidentally switch it on by touching the button (as can happen when I carry it around in a pocket). They should have made it so that it's as difficult to switch it on as it is to switch it off (you have to hold the button for ten seconds or so).

The BT version (don't know about the wired version) has a strong magnet built-in, so you can attach it to any magnetic surface. It comes with a little metal plate with sticky backside for gluing to the car dashboard. As for other kind of usage (e.g. walking around in town) just put it in a pocket.

Yes, if you want to use it for more than a few hours (I'm not sure how long its battery lasts, but I think it is only 5-6 hours). The car kit I got has a single cable from a T3 cradle to the sigarette lighter connector, and a cable from there goes to the GPS (the T3 is powered from the cradle).

Yes. The GPS unit has an external 'mc' type connector where you can attach an external antenna. The unit is suprisingly sensitive with the built-in antenna though.
I have bought one of those re-radiating antennas which has one magnetic antenna to stick to the outside of the car, and an internal antenna to re-radiate the signal so the GPS unit can 'see' it (for use in other (e.g. rental) cars with heat-insulated windows or other kind of metallic glass which will block the GPS signals).

Ive got the SysOn Bluetooth GPS plus. Its got Xtrac II and finds satalites soooo fast it's amazing. Ive tried several types and I own an Etrex Vista C and the SysOn shows everything up. It so powerful it can even lock on to satalites while indoors!! It really is the best ive seen and the battery lasts for DAYS!!!
Recommended. (got mine from globalpositioningsystems.co.uk for ?90)

Tks for the info related with GPS equipment, I was looking for GlobalSat 308, now i will check the SysOn also.
Just for info, I get a carkit from Arkon (t3), is really Good. Recommended.
