My dr told me that I shouldn't have spaghetti or any other type of tomatoe based sauce because it has too much acid. However, I read that adding a little bit of baking soda along with sugar can neutralize the acid.

is this true? Do any of you still eat spaghetti, lasagna, etc?

I avoid tomato sauce or any tomato base fooRAB as much as possible. I haven't had spaghetti in three years. I've never heard about baking soda and if it is I'd try it, hope someone here knows!

I add brown sugar to the sauce all the time, and it does seem to help considerably, for me at least.

Greg - I add regular sugar but from what I've been reading, it's hard to know whether sugar will nuetralize the acid or not. I seems to be debatable but I did read that baking soda will do it.

I amde spaghetti last night with my homemade sauce (with added sugar) and I used 1/8 tsp of baking soda. I feel fine today but I never really noticed a huge reaction before.
