toe infection

i think i have a toe infection. i have discoloring (fungus) on my nail and i think its growning in thru the skin. its very painful at times and i cant see the dr til next thursday(hes away). i started taking 2 amox. a day just in case there is an infection but what could help ease the pain? thanks

Soak your foot in warm water with epsome salts in it.
That should help some. You can get the epsome salts in any drug store or target or walmart.
 
Perhaps you could in to see a podiatrist sooner than your doc? And soaking is a good idea. Also, if you can lift the edge of the toenail and clip it at an angle, that might relieve some pressure.
 
thanks, yeah the podiatrist is the one who cant see me til thurs next wk. what about listerine? i asked the pharmacist and they told me to soak it in that??
 
you should keep taking the antibiotics, it's the first thing the doctor is going to do anyway. I had an infection/ingrown toenail and even though it really hurt he didn't do anything until I had taken antibiotics for a week. Then he took out the part of the nail that had grown into my skin. I had it on both feet so it hurt to walk for a couple of days but then afterwards it was all better :)
