To what extent can a teacher punish the class after school..?

I live in Ontario, Canada and I would like to know up to what extent the teacher can punish us After the bell rings. She claims she can keep us in class up to a certain amount of time? But that would cause us to miss the buses. Then she says she'd let us out RIGHT before they left so it would be our fault cause we didn't hurry up?

Please explain in detail or post a link about this?
