And those are my main two choices. Sat on gixxers and to me, they are extremely uncomfortable. Not saying they are bad but just not for me... same with Kawi. And this bike will be used for mainly daily rider and maybe a few track days here in there. And also take with me on trips in the mountains and all that.
What differences do you notice when upgrading to a bike of that size?

I currently own an R6 (600ccs) that I absolutely love to death. I've had it for a while and I'm hoping to upgrade to an R1 OR CBR1000 (preferably older style R1 - 2004-2006). I would like to upgrade around Christmas or winter months due to the fact that bikes will be cheaper during that time and where I live, it's perfect weather. In Arizona so it's been 105 degrees plus for like 3 straight weeks haha and going up.

Anyway, I'd like to keep my R6 for the rest of summer, then sell it, wait for a good price and bike to come up while working as much as I can and then hopefully I can have my new 1000cc bike.

I took around a friend's CBR1000RR for about 30 miles and I loved it. Felt great, rode smooth but I do feel more comfortable on the R1 (never rode one, sat of them). I heard the R1 and CBR1000 are similar so debating on which one.

Anyway, what kind of differences are there from the 600s and bikes of that nature? Just want to know before I buy one. Researched as much as I can but hoping I can get more info from people with experience. Thanks

I can only speak for the R1, as I have never sat or ridden on a CBR1000.

The R1 is a blast. Fast as hell, and not terribly uncomfortable. Either you go with, just be careful. The R1 is quite different than the R6.
