To late to start Dirt Bike Racing?

I'm 15 and I really want to take up dirt bike racing but my dad says that I waited to late to start because most people that go pro start when they're like 4. Did I really wait to late, or can I still start. I wanted to do it as a hobby, but going pro has crossed my mind. If it's not to late, how do I convince my dad to let me start?


P.S It would help if you have raced dirt bikes before
