I am only a junior, but already stressing over college. I fight with my mom all the time about it, and I'm so indecisive. There are pros and cons to both. Away colleges are UCR, UCI, and UCD. Stay colleges are SFSU, CSUEB, OR SJSU (well I'll have to live in San Jose but it's a state so it's cheaper than the UCs) I'm prob most likely going to SFSU if I stay.
Away: I can be independent, learn how to take care of myself, away from parental supervision, meet new people, have new experiences, etc. The only cons are that I'm afraid of wasting my parents money, seeing as how we're going through hard times. I'm also scared that I won't be able to handle college work seeing as I don't have the greatest studying habits, and will crack under pressure and eventually break down or drop out. What a waste of money! Why go to an expensive college and come out as a loser? Don't wanna let my fam down.
Stay: Save TONS of money. Have a roof over my shoulder, cooked meals, don't have to worry about rent and bills, etc. Thing is SFSU is a commuter school and I won't really have a social life, oh and I hate most of the people here. Plus even now, I argue with my parents all the time, but they want me to stay so that it'll save them tons of money. I'll have to listen to their rules and they'll watch me like a hawk, UGH. They'll most likely treat me like a baby since they are Asian parents.
So please help me! I know I'll have another year but Idk what to do. I really want to go away, but the only thing holding me back is financial reasons. Loans, I'm not sure about them because like I said, what if I can't handle college work? ]:
