To Droid or Not to Droid?

My Omnia has been acting up lately... I got an email from VZW that I'm eligible for an early upgrade, so I'm looking at the Droid. Should I go ahead and go for the Droid or is there a better option in the Android line coming soon?

Other thought... when the Nexus hits, any thoughts on if the Droid price will go down?
 
For Verizon the DROID is really the only way to go right now. It's a flagship Android device.

Even when the Nexus One is released for VZW you only gain AMOLED.. you lose sunlight readability and the keyboard. The only significant competitor IMHO is the HTC Incredible.. but who knows when it will come out?

I have read the Droid is available for something like $49.99 subsidized on VZW. At that price I doubt the price would go down much further.
 
I've had the Droid for a few months now and I definitely recommend it!! The web browsing is really fast and smooth, especially if you're on wi-fi. The music and video playback is amazing, even on its built-in speaker!! The media experience will be even bettger once flash is officially available for the droid. The Android 2.0 OS is really solid and easy to use, and the app catalog is pretty good now. So basically you can't go wrong with the Droid!!
