To-dos, events and so on

A couple of questions, if people would be so kind. I seem to be able to make separate "to-dos" and "events" (what's the difference?) on my Mac using Palm Desktop, but not on the TX. Is this so, or is it myself?

And is there a way of making a "done" column where I can check off things I've done on the TX, without just deleting the item, please?
 
A todo would normally be assigned a day - and would continue to roll over to the next day until you checked it as complete. An Event - would be assigned a specific day but would not roll to the next.

On the handheld - while in tasks - you can choose the following while in tasks: Menu>options>preferences and then check the "show completed tasks" - this will keep them on the handheld as visible.
