I have a daughter who is giving me a hard time about not "taking care of myself". I had my first back surgery in 2003, a lurabar fusion, and two laminectomies in 2004 and 2006. Now here it is 2010 and I'm going to be discussing surgery with my pain management doctor next week because medications and EPIs are not helping and the pain is getting exponentially worse.
My daughter says I "do too much" and that's why I keep having back trouble. My position is that if I feel like it, I just keep going. I'm 69 years old and I'm not doing anything like skiing or horseback riding, etc., just ordinary daily things.
Is there any medical evidence for either of these positions?
