Tmobile Mytouch 3G android update question please help!?

Alright so I purchased an (UNLOCKED) Tmobile Mytouch 3G earlier this year off line. I use the Tmobile Mytouch 3G on Tmobiles network and I also switched to their Android internet plan. Now that Tmobile is updating their Current mytouch 3Gs to android 2.2 from 1.6 (the version I am using) via OTA would I be able to receive the update as well? I'm extremely confused
