Tmobile MyFav without Myfav Phone

Hello everyone. I just went into Tmobile last night inquiring about myfav. To my best understanding and what the Tech Reps there told me, is:

1. You do not have to have a MyFav phone to have the serivce
2. You must have access to a MyFave phone to swap your simcard into to update and change your 5 myfav contacts
3. It can be an add-on for $10 month....same price as just upgrading to the plan.
4. Have to atleast have 1 MyFave compatable phone on your account to add it.

Anyone else have a non-myfav phone and use the service. Just trying to see how many users out there do this same thing. Im about to add it on to my plan within the next few days.

Just some FYI for Tmobile customers out there.

Actually it's not an addon. You have to switch to a myFaves rate plan. They do cost $10.00 more, but to clarify it is not an addon. You can actually edit your contacts on myT-Mobile.com as well as from t-zones, but you do have to have a myFaves compatible handset in order to switch to the plan.

Yes i know its NOT and add-on I ment it ADDS ON $10 extra a month, PLUS You need atleast 1 MYFAV PHONE just to get the service running. THe tech at Tmobile showed me how he has a 7100 BB and it doenst have MyFav's on it. BUT he swapped his sim out into the T629 Samsung w/my fav and used the software to change his contacts and swapped back to the BB to use the service.

But you must have a myfav phone to get the service going, either on your individual plan, or on your family plan. Once your 5 are saved to the sim, you can use it in any other phone there. (atleast according to that tech rep)

Just relaying information. I will test this out when my plan renews on the 7th and i can use my old razr to try out MyFav on a non-Myfav phone.

I have a FP with 3 lines 2 phones are my faves comp. I set up the last phone by switching the sim cards and letting them up date then i switched them back.

So its working good for you too? Thanks for the confirmation. I posted this being a lil hesitant on if it worked correctly or not. just goin by word of mouth from the Tmobile guy at the Direct store.

Thanks

Any chance there is any way to get my faves working on an 8700g? Maybe something that will be added into the next os upgrade?

T-Mobile is currently working to get MyFaves working on all possible handsets. It's not guarranteed yet but we are trying to get OTA updates for all current phones to have it.

To clarify everything....

1. You need to have a MyFaves compatible phone to get the plan as the plan is never added untill you recieve a welcome message for it in which you need a MyFaves phone to get. After you have the plan you can go back to using a regular phone. T-Mobile doesn't encourage this as it is possible that in the future the system could update and make it so it tracks the phone as well as the number being used.

2. MyFaves a complete rate plan NOT a ADD-ON. The plan is $10 more a month then a normal rate plan.

3. The easiest way to change your contacts are over the internet at my.t-mobile.com which you don't need a correct handset for

Hope this helps

That sucks! I wish i would have known that 2 days a ago ijust sold my t809 that i was in love with because i wanted to get on the MyFaves family plan with my fiance. now i have to buy a new phone when i didn't need to

That rep doesn't know what he is talking about also if you are dealer and you put someone on this you will not get paid.

I was also thinking about switching to MyFavs and I looked at it and I had no idea that it was a completely different plan. Kinda dumb I thought. I have 600 mins, Unlimited BB, and 400 SMS. I never use up my mins so really that's all I need. Unless you really talk on the phone alot. I think the whole MyFavs is a rip off. Although I do most of my talking at night when the minutes are free. I guess it's all about personal choice if the MyFavs works for you why the hell not!

I was pissed that the MyFaves was not an add-on for existing plans, which would be ideal for me: I don't use the actual phone very often but I am constantly using data. I wanted to have the unlimited data+text with at the very minimum 600 minutes and then have the MyFaves. But there isn't a cost effective way to do this. I am currently on the BB Minutes & Email plan ($59.99/mo for unlimited data/email/sms and 1000 anytime minutes. No nighttime or weekend or M2M) with a BB Pearl.
