tmobile G2 data package question?

if i get the tmobile g2, for only 200 dollars because of contract, will they force me to have internet, or any data package at all. and if i somehow dont get the data package, will mms still work, and will i be able to use wifi at home. i just cant afford the data package until i get a better job sometime next year, then i will get the internet. How much does the unlimited internet on tmoblie for the g2 cost anyway?
