tmobile g1 problems with downloads?

On my g1 I was able 2 download videos from the web, such as youtube or any site or mobile site by pressin save 2 link and it would save the video, I turned off my phone on day and when I turned it back on I could no long download videos it would only save the link, what can I do so I can get back 2 download my videos, ps. I was told that u could always download youtube vids but I can't even do that o need some help thanks
