Tmobile Equipement Installment Plan not offered in store, when it clearly says it does?

So tmobile website says you can buy your phones, though installments, but when i went to a tmobile store, they said it was only for ordering online and not through stores, said i needed a 2 year contract to get the phone at a cheaper price which was ridiculous since the site said the ask their retail stores to pay in installments . So did i just face a bad rep who only wanted some commission money or is it really not offered through stores, because i dont want a 2 year contract
