i would say they would likely want the ETF before they ported your number over... but you would have to check with them... (boost might set you up with a temporary number until the port completes, or they might just wait until the port completes to activate your new line of service)
if going with boost go for a CDMA phone and not an iDEN one - the CDMA phones operate on sprints network and the internet is faster... the iDEN phones operate on the nextel network (they are good if you want push to talk/chirp) but the internet is slower amongst other things..
