i have an 8700g - i currently have 4.1.0.346 installed.... i got this from the tmo site...

i saw somewhere that 4.2 is avail...

if its NOT on the tmo bb update site, can i install it error-free?

anyone tried this?

ah ok i see....

if it was on pc - id surely find it and install it ---- but i cant be without a functioning phone - not worth the risk - haha

thanks for the info

4.2 floating around is not the official version... I do have it but I'm not sharing it because I wouldn't even try it my self. I'll just wait for the official version. But for now, you can download the newest bharti.. or the sprint OS which have been very stable for me.

Yes, technically you can use another provider's OS version as long as you remove the vendor file when installing. (and are willing to re-load all of your personal information since sometimes it will not always bring it over and will force you to "format" the BB RAM, while some versions allow you to upgrade it

I Technically have an 8700c, unlocked, running on T-Mobile re-flashed with the T-Mobile version of the 8700. I couldn't stand the cingular menu system esp since they hid icons that were not built in programs.

4.2 will be available from tmobile around march after all beta testing has been reported and issues fixed. Trust me right now you don't want to use it very buggy. But it will be very nice once it comes out full mp3 support and bluetooth file sharing are the 2 main features that I'm waiting for!~via BB (wap.rabroad.com)~

~via BB (wap.rabroad.com)~i think, but I'm not sure, the 4.2 OS will allow you to have myfave on your 8700g. This would be great, but I'm not really sure.

i have the beta 4.2 i have removed the vendor.xml file. But now what do i simply install the alx files? One other question the 4.2 os is for cingular 8100 what would this do to a 8700g tmobile bb? At a diffrent forum they stated that it would auto load threw desktop manager 4.2, however it did not. I have atempted to add a few of the alx files ie bb video and brick breaker but bb video just did not form an icon and brick breaker just died. I assumed that it was because my os is still 4.1 but hay had to mess with it. Any ideas on how to get this on my 8700g. Oh by the way is the 4.2 cingular a beta as well???

~via BB (wap.rabroad.com)~im using the 4.2 from cingular on my 8700g and all I did was took out the vendor file and then install it. Easy as that, I just love this OS can't wait for the official one
