Tmo @home service

I called tmobile and they don't know anything. Said it was a new service for them. How is the conditional clal forwarding setup. Is it the same system as the mobile voicemail system? I basically want the toll free to ring my mobile phone. Must I still purchase a router to get the service. I will probally never use the landline unless it is good for modem dialing.

I think you would have to call tech support for the call fwd. No modem for sure. You have to buy their router...it holds a sim card (2 if you want two lines).

I will also add it lncludes unlimited regular call fwd also, so if you aren't home they could go to your cell. Supposedly all the ## codes work the same.

Once I tweaked my router (so torrent downloads didn't effect it) all has been good...of course with TS (soon to be Hurricane) Fay bearing down on Florida, I am hoping this wasn't a mistake. Last time a TS hit my area (Gainesville, FL) was Frances in 04. Power and cable was out for many days...no cable and no power means no @Home...not only that but our nearby TMO was knocked out for a couple weeks too

unfortunately toll free numbers are not able to be ported and the reason is we are not able to support those kinds of numbers. You ARE able to change a cell phone to this service as long as you still have one cell phone acting as a cell phone on your plan. there are a couple of qualifying things you do need to have.

1. A Rate Plan of 39.99 or higher for individual.
2. a rate plan of 49.99 or higher for family time pooling plans.
3. A High speed internet connection (cable/DSL)
4. The Hiport router
5. A touch tone phone
6. ONLY EXCLUSIVE TO TMOBILE CUSTOMERS.

as for the port forwarding it depends on which ports need to be opened for which programs/ software. i have my router set up to do port forwarding. i specified the pors on which the programs used and on which IP. it works great.

in the event that the internet goes down. so does you phone service. do not worry though. the Vmail will still work and you will be able to retrieve you messages.

It is def. a mst have to save money. i currently have had the service since a week after it launched only cause it took them forever to ship me my router. i have also bought the phones as well. i'm not sure if you looked into researching it but with the ten dollars you get UNL NW calling, Call waiting, call forwarding, Caller ID, Vmail all for that $10.

I hope this answered a lot of your questions.

So far they have no clue about torrents afecting speed. They said sounds like he's on a slower connection and should boost his internet speed. I just shook my head. ~via BB (wap.rabroad.com)~

Ken-------

what you can do is this (it helped me on mine). you can specify a port on ur torrent software in the settings. after you have done that you will need to find out what the router assigned your computer aka. which IP you got. then do a port forward in the router settings. if you need help on that go to "www.portforward.com". it has step by step instructions on how to do this. i had that problem as well thats why and i use Utorrent

Did you see my previous posts on the this thread and the other? I did fix the problem. I set the QoS settings on the Hi-Port (tmo) router to give lower priority to the port that my bittorent client uses AND I told my bittorent client to use no more that 150 concurrent connections. This works great and I am quite happy now.

I need to up my speed, eh? To what? Nowhere will TMO document it. No, it's not the speed...It was the torrents needing to be reeled in a bit. That's all.

I do port forward already. The only thing that fixed my problem was setting the QoS setting for the port that I used for Azureues/Vuze to lower priority AND limited the concurrent connections that Vuze uses. This worked for me.

OK,
why does not TMOBILE support toll free numbers. I called several resellers and corp locations and they all said it could be done. Toll free numbers did not matter according to them and TMOBILE customer's service. Also we have several business accounts. DO they not let you add to the account if the lines are maxed out? for example some plans only let you have 5 numbers on it? Also we have a business account, why can we not have more than five numbers on the plan (the account I wish to add it on, although I could add it to another account). The sales guys are the worst. I was at a corp store for over an hour and so many people was pissed at the wait and lack of knowing anything. Iwas told that the @Home price will go up in the near future to 20.00. What does being a toll free number have to do with porting, makes no difference with a port. I just called TMOBILE customer service and they said the toll free number does NOT matter. I will just fond another alternative.

What we know is as far as we were trained. A LOT of the customer service people were not trained like how we were. The price will never go up. its staying at 10.00 a month for good. if it was gonna go up im pretty sure it wouldn't be free for us tmobile workers. for buisness accounts or regular accounts. it doesn't matter how many lines you have on your account because it no longer counts against you allowed number of lines. be it if you need one or two numbers. Also it depends on where you go. the reason why i know so much about the @home is because my boss is one of the main people in hawaii that finds out everything first hand (they call them the ambassadors). those are the stores that you need to find. I'm lucky to have my boss. i learn alot from him about new products or even features that we're adding. as far as the toll free number thing i will be sure to find out directly from him. what kind of toll free number are you looking to port over? an 800, 900, 888? Also i dont know how the stores are ran in the mainland. thats what we call you connected states down here. if you want to talk to anybody at the store. talk to a manager or a Senior Sales Rep.

well I have called several stores and the csr at tmobile. no one obviously knows what they are doing. ones says they are ok to add the lines, another says they can not and I should cancel the lines and get a new contract. the csr said it is possible but do not know how to do it. I have talked to over a dozen people today alone. One thing TMOBILE can do right. deduct the funds out of our account ever month without any problem. I told them maybe I should cancel the 86 lines we have with you and go with someone who knows what they are doing. I have spent about 4 hours on this and can't get anywhere. my time is worth more than the savings. any advise?

can a 1-866 toll free number be ported to tmobile @ home or not?

okay so i just got off the phone with my manager. he said that it can be added onto a buisness account but it does not support toll free numbers. the reason being is that when we port the number over to us it is no longer a regular landline phone. It becomes a "cell number", just used as a landline. sorry you had to go through that. trust me. i know how you feel. i have to call into customer care like a ton of times a day.
