tmo abroad..?

Im thinking of going to Guatemala soon, but im just wondering if i take my BB will it work over there.
I have been doing some research but havent been that succesful.
What would i have to do for the phone to work? add something on TMo's end?

You need to make sure you have international services active on your account prior to leaving the country. I would also ask the customer care agent you talk with to check what services are available in Guatemala. According to T-Mobile's website (http://www.t-mobile.com/international/RoamingMaps.aspx?tp=Inl_Tab_RoamWorldwide&tsp=Inl_Sub_RoamingMap&cc=GT&net=00&opts=0&cid=72 ) international internet is available on one carrier there but it doesn't state if BB's will have data access, only that GPRS is available there.

Ok..from experience

1. Notify TMO you are going international and activate international services (free - but plan on big $$ per minute)
2. You can activate international BB service for $20 / month and your unlimited email service will work if they have a partner. I was in Europe this winter and it was seamless. You just turn off the servie when you return to stop the charge. GPRS should support email.
3. You can also unlock your BB and use a local sim card (assuming you can buy one in guatemala) and pay local rates for local calls and incoming calls.
