Episode 1.25: The Day of Awakening
Original Air Date: October 20, 2007
Written by: Steve Murphy

Previously on Fast Forward: The turtles and the Inuwashi Gunjin fought and defeated a mad species-collector, resulting in a new mission for the wayward Gunjin.

This week on Fast Forward: President Bishop recruits the turtles for their toughest mission yet: head to the moon and stop Sh'Okanabo, who has taken over Moonbase Bishop and its crew. This is it; the culmination of the Sh'Okanabo story. Danger can happen!

Pretty good show considering it's trying to squeeze the epic nature of a two-part finale into a single serving episode. Was there some mandate that they couldn't do multi-part stories at all this year? Maybe it's for the best considering Shokonabo only had a slight presence in the second half of FF.

Sigh, why does my HDTV Tuner always cut out and not want too work on Saturdays? It almost never fails..

Thank goodness for the cable box...even if the picture isn't as clean...

Not a bad episode....though

We finally got some closure on the Sh'Okanabo storyline. Pretty good episode. Loved the citation scene between Biggles and the driver. :D

Leo, Mike, and Splinter's fight was pretty good. Although, I kinda thought it was rushed at certain points.

 at Bishop telling Cody "Next time you choose to disobey a direct order from the president, you'll get a medal". Awesome line.

Also good to see Viral finally get decompiled. She was starting to get annoying.

Looks like next week is the season finale people.

Season 5 is planned to air in early '08. I would assume the earliest they start those Ninja Tribunal episodes would be January...although I suspect they'd wait till February.

I guess that means after they air the finale of FF there will just be reruns of it until the end of December.

Although I think the episode could have stood a longer running, time, I'm not sure the plot as is could stand another episode being added to it--maybe if they'd left Sh'Okanabo actually get to Earth?

In any case, what we got was pretty great. Well-animated (if short) fights, one and a half deaths, and a definitive ending to the seasonal plot, with a clear and unambigous victory by the turtles.

If they wanted to make sure Sh'Okanabo NEVER comes back, the best thing to do would be to send the purple ooze man to the sun, just like Super Saiyan 4 Goku did to Baby!

No! No, no no, no, no, no, NO! We don't need Sh'Okanabo coming back to life. He's done! Finished! Kaput!

Thanks for the spoiler you prick! I didn't get to see that scene yet!

What did the crown prince of randomness spoil for you, a TMNT scene that didn't happen or a Dragon Ball GT scene that's old enough to go to grade school?

Shoko'nobo is dead, we won't be seeing him again. FF is over and the Turtles will be returning home next season, there's a reason they put an end to his character.

GT. And don't start with me about the series' age, ok? There are some people who haven't watched far into the series yet...and I'm one of them.

Ah huh.

Well, look at it this way: you still don't know any details of the battle or anything else, just that Bebi ends up in the sun. Only the ending - not the journey.

So Sh'okanabo returns... and is now gone for good.

Nice daring plan that almost worked. Almost. The Turtles were on the ropes. More than once. This episode came close to becoming a nailbiter. But the Turtles, Cody, Splinter, and Bishop prevailed. Thank goodness.

"The Day of Awakening": 3.5/5

Still, you don't go off shouting random spoilers like everyone and their dog has seen the episode. Use the spoiler tag. It's the same thing with Harry Potter. Not everyone has read the books (as hard it is for pop culture fanatics to believe) so when I hear a bunch of jerks shouting
SNAPE KILLS DUMBLEDORE!!!
I have to resist my urge to punch them in the throat.

In short, please be respectful to those who haven't seen the episodes.

I'm sorry - I rarely (if ever) step in as mod but this is just stupid.

When a show gets that freaking old - and lets face it: the original airing was in freaking 1997 and the US airing - what? 2-3 years ago?, that just doesnt cut it.

OMG SHAGGY AND SCOOBY DOO OPENED THE CHEST OF DEMONS WHY DID YOU SPOIL ME BIG TIMES LYFE IS OVAH WHAO NAO.

Drop it. At this point if you get mad about being spoiled on an umpteen year old series that ended 2-3 years way after the fact then its fair game to discuss as far as I'm concerned. If its recent - I could DEFINATELY see your point being valid - Hell I'd even side with you sort of if its maybe a several months or so old (I know others may differ), but at this point you and everybody else on the planet has had plenty of time to watch the show, and if you havent then the population here at the boards is not obligated to cater to you or care about irrelevant TOTALLY UNRELATED spoilers unless its something that is out of the norm, a complete exception or special circumstance, or REALLY REALLY seems crucial enough to do so.

IMO an ancient Dragonball GT spoiler does not fit either of these three criteria.

If another mod disagrees with this then I will gladly take back everything I said and the discussion will be over. But do not bring it up again or I WILL go to an active mod to snuff it out. If you wanna dish it out with somebody else over PM then feel free (dont PM me please, given my schedule anyway, and knowing what its about I probably wont even bother to read it and I'm being perfectly honest here), but let people that actually wanna talk about the ep at hand do that than wade through unnecessary spoiler-drama. This is neither the time nor the place.

This isn't a warning BTW since I'm not one of the more usually active mods here: simply a tongue-in-cheek reminder. Also, Snape kills Dumbledore please place all LOLLERCOPTERS here. :)

I've moved and have been w/o tv for the past 2 wkds, have either of the final 2 eps shown the turtles being transported from the future?

there was a thread earlier about how the broadcast version of the ep would differ from the dvd version on FF Vol 2. Were there any new bits of animation?
