tm told me BB msg counts as sms

Generally that means everyone else is right. But it sounds like either you and whoever you talked to had a miscommunication or that the rep was wrong.

so it's really data, right?

how about the AIM, WLM and yahoo msg that is already on your phone when you first get it.. is it data or sms?

~via BB (wap.rabroad.com)~bb msger uses the internet and does no go against SMS. Its designed for business so they don't have to pay for texting

Blackberry Messenger/PIN messaging uses data not SMS texts.

From my experience AIM and the like that come on most phone work off of SMS.

For your Blackberry you can get something like RAMBLE IM (free IM client) that works off of Data not SMS.

BB messenger runs on the blackberry data plan and wouldn't even work if you weren't paying for it. Its not ever going to be sms and t mobile reps are great but their not BB support. ~via BB (wap.rabroad.com)~

BB Messenger - Data

Yahoo Messenger (downloaded from Help bookmark) - Data

Google Messenger (downloaded from Google) - Data

The ones that come pre-installed I can't answer for because I am in the habit of removing them as soon as I pull the phone out of the box and installing the versions I download from the internet.
