A couple of years ago in the school library I read a book and have no idea what it was called or who wrote it.
It was a horror about a servant called Sally who left a broom lying on the stairs causing her master to fall down them, just before a huge flood - that happens because the dam that her dad was building, burst (i think it's based on a real life flood). When the flood comes, her master (can't remember his name) is killed and all that's left is a hand that points at Sally and sort of haunts her. She ends up marrying another servant, the blind gardener.
Any ideas?
