Title and author of 1990s biographical novel about Adolf Hitler?

In the mid to late 1990s I read half of a very thick biographical novel about Hitler. I lost the book before I could finish it. I bought it in Canada, but I think the book was published in Britain. I remember the cover was done in gold, yellow and orange tones and featured a sort of 'Triumph of the Will' background of banners and columns. Does anyone know the title and author? I thought it might be called "Fuhrer" by someone with the first name of Alan, but I haven't been able to find anything so I may be wrong. Thanks!
