Titanic: The Mission! Ch4 9.00 PM

I'm watching it. Bit too much gassing for my liking. More building required.

Oh, and their red jumpsuits are playing havoc with my freeview.

Just catching up on +1
I take it nobody watched tonight then?
I enjoyed it anyway, shame it all went a bit pearshaped with Horses pulling the anchor.

I watched it.

Very interesting social history and a reminder of how tough life was for the average bod.

Did I hear the voiceover man correctly - a miner would have to mine around a ton of coal per hour in order to earn enough to feed his family???

The mix of the interesting history spoilt by silly b's in colourful "Blue Peteresque" boiler suits, trying to play up to the camera, was too much for me.

Yup ton a hour, I could quite believe it too.
I've worked with some old blokes shifting earth with a shovel.
I can see how motivated someone could get when they're staring at real hunger.

So much for 'hardwork never killed anyone' Steel fixers Grandad dead at 37.
Always thought that was a load of bollox made up by someone of extremely limited life experience.

Awesome series.

Bit sad really seeing how lazy we have become & the infestation of Health & Safety laws. So many skills lost forever. I just watched the anchor episode. Such a work of art seeing that 16 ton hunk of metal being made from scratch.

You must have been watching a different program, Chappy's Grandad dead at 37, Forge workers known for their husky voices and hacking coughs, 'oh for the good old days'

Lazy, yes I'm sure given a choice in the matter the women chain makers would have chosen to give birth on Friday and be back at work at a Forge on the Monday.

I've heard Project managers and Site agents measure a project based on deaths per man hours.
'We're doing quite well, we should have had another death by now, looking at the man hours'

I think you'll find the skills haven't gone forever, but they're a lot more specialised/niche now and you have to pay a premium price to access them.

You're taking my comments to the extreme. I'm referring to the fact that 90% of the population now sit on their fat ass & complain about the biscuit variety on offer in their canteen.

There are no skills left in this country. Just a bunch of plebs with a GCSE in "Stupid" hitting preprogrammed buttons. Programmed in a country like Japan, where they do actually have some talent still.

I was thinking of the 10,000+ people that showed up when they moved the anchor.

This country is a joke. We moan & bitch about the most pathetic & mundane things.

Considering this is a thread about a program relating to building the Titanic, forging steel, chain making, coal mining, etc.
I don't know what kind of health and safety were you thinking of.

Frankly you're spouting a load of old broad brush nonsense IMO.
Watch this, you'll see lots of people with GCSE's in 'stupid'

Not sure what your point is about the people who came out to see the Anchor.

Some people in this country like to do it and it's citizens down a bit too much for my liking, a bit of balance would go a long way.
