Over the past few months, I have experienced an odd sensation of tiredness which comes upon me quickly. I have the proper amount of sleep each night, take a multivitamin and I get enough physical activity. I also keep my caffeine intake within reasonable levels.
When I wake up, I feel refreshed and get out of bed and go about my day. About an hour or two later, I get a sudden onset of tiredness and then go back to bed for about 2 hours. The same feeling comes over me in the mid to late afternoon also. The tiredness seems to radiate from the top of my neck and the base of my skull. It is hard to describe, as it is nothing I have felt previously in my life.
I have had a standard blood test, with thyroid stimulating hormone, and it came back normal. My brother has a thyroid disorder, and that is the reason for my concern. I am not sure if the single thyroid test (I believe there to be 3 or 4) will catch all thyroid disorders.
Possibly I am looking in the wrong direction, and it is not thyroid related at all. As much as I enjoy having a restful sleep, this begins to take up a great deal of my time.
Any input or thoughts are greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
