Tire Recommendations

I have a Ducati 848 and need tire recommendations. I'm currently running the stock 180/55/17 and 120/70/17 Pirelli dragon supercorsa pro. Can I put 190's in the rear or is the 180's better since it's a 848? I do pretty much all city riding so should I get the Pirelli dragon supercorsa pro, supercorsa diablo strada or the diablo corsa 3? I'm told the 848 has a narrower rim than the 1098's. Is this true????

The 848 has a 5.5 inch rim, the 1098/1198 is 6 inch. Stick with the 180's, a larger tire won't give you any benefits.

However........if you do decide to go with a 190 use a 50 profile, squeezing a 190/50 on a 5.5 rim will handle similar to a 190/55.

I would go with a dual compound tire for city riding, can get 4000 miles out of a set vs 1500 to 2000 on super corsa pros. Pirelli came out with a new dual compound in the Diablo Corsa III and also Michelin has the Pilot Power 2CT which will set you back 365 dollars for the set. But their an excellent street/track day tire unless your an advanced trackday rider then ya need the race compunds. And so is the DC III good street/track tire. Wouldn't mess with a 190 on the rear, will slow up your handling and cost more $$$ also.

Also Sport Rider did a tire test for street/track tires and the Michelin 2CT's scored the highest edging out the DC III. I'd buy whichever was less $$.

Oh thank's, yea it's a pic of Willy as President, rec'd it in an email from someone, a joke. I'd like to say too that Dunlops are excellent tires also but only ran 1 set of 208's back around 2001 and also Metzler Sportec's, good tires all, but never rec'd the mileage of the Bridgestones I was running then at the time, getting 4000 plus with them and also the Mich's. now on the street.
