Tire monitoring system update...Doran System

Hey all:

Since tire monitoring has popped up again, I just thought I would do a reprint of something I did early this year.

This is the Doran System and it has been great. Originally posted and liked the tiregard system, but it turned out to be inaccurate after four units. This is "hard wired" and appears to be the real thing...See review below.

And for those who ask, you DO NEED METAL VALVE STEMS...Harley tubes, like I have, DO HAVE METAL VALVE STEMS...

Hey all:

I've been looking for a tire pressure system that was reliable.

I had previously tried the "Show chrome, Tiregard". At first all was well but apparently they have not worked out the "bugs" with their sensors, or I got three bad ones.

Anyway, after returning it with no problems, I came across a handlebar system by Doran...

The Doran system differs in that it is "hard wired" not AAA battery powered. In addition, it comes with a handlebar mounting system.

The Doran, unlike the previous manufacturer I tested seems to be truly accurate. It is easy to read and actually looks like it could have come with the bike. As with the other system, you must have metal valve stems.

Installation as mentioned, is two wires and the sensors can actually be mounted in the wheel or on the stem. I have tubes so I use the sensors as valve caps.

So far the system has worked well. Even in extreme cold.

After having issues with the Show Chrome I am wary of telling you all how GREAT this one is. However, unlike the Show Chrome, the Doran system has worked consistently for more than a week in very cold weather.

I bought my system from Doran for $199.95...Worthwhile to me for the piece of mind. It also has a remote warning LED in case you want to mount the unit shown below in a hidden place... I like knowing my tire pressure so I have mounted it on the bars.

Remember, we must still look at our tires frequently.

This system just lets you know if tire failure may be imminent.
