I am a freshman in high school and I want to tryout for the softball team, I am not new to softball at all, I have been playing since I was four. I wouldn't say I'm horrible, but I'm definitely not the best either. I tried out for the middle school team in seventh grade, and I completely messed up at tryouts and didn't make it, and in eighth grade I tried out but they didn't let any new eighth graders on the team. I really want to make it and I have been practicing hard to prepare myself (I go to a hitting coach, go to preseason conditioning and go to the gym everyday on top of that) The coach is my math teacher which is another reason I really want to make it. Batting is definitely my stronger point, but I struggle a lot with fielding. I think I have gotten a lot better since my seventh grade tryouts but I'm still scared that I won't make it and will just embarrass myself for the third time. Can anyone please give me some tips on how to get better (mainly in fielding) and what coaches usually look for at tryouts please?
