Tips on choreographing a dance to this song?

I've been wanting to choreograph a (jazz, musical theatre, or lyrical) dance routine to "I'm Alive" from Next to Normal.

I've done improv to this, but I need to find better ways to connect my kicks and leaps while still telling the story.
