I want to buy shares and I know that it's risky, but every website I go to that supposedly gives information on how to buy stocks just says "research the stock." Does every share have a number that lets you keep track of them on some website, or does it just mean make sure the company the share is from isn't about to go out of business? BTW I don't plan on ever selling the stocks.
